My Hue (Mia)
Born in Ho Chi Minh City to Vietnamese and Chinese-Vietnamese parents, My Hue (pronounced “Me Way”) often uses the anglicised name Mia for ease of communication.
At the age of eight, her family fled Vietnam following the 1979 Vietnam–Cambodia border conflict. After spending a year in Indonesia’s Galang Refugee Camp, they were sponsored by a church in New Zealand and resettled there, beginning a new chapter in their lives.
My Hue completed a commerce degree at the University of Canterbury before pursuing a career in the travel industry. She went on to manage several travel agency branches across New Zealand and Australia, developing extensive experience across all aspects of travel operations.
In 2007, My Hue supported Billy in growing Student Educational Adventures. When the company ceased operating in 2021, she co-founded Edventure Travel, continuing her focus on educational travel. She brings 30 years of industry experience, including expertise in airline ticketing, travel insurance, and visa processes. With a detailed understanding of school tour onboarding and administration, she provides clear guidance and support to staff, ensuring confidence throughout the planning process.
Outside of her professional work, My Hue enjoys motorbike journeys through Asia, reading about leadership and personal development, and cooking traditional Vietnamese cuisine. She also holds a qualification in bookkeeping and is fluent in both English and Vietnamese.
