Private tours
Our private tours are designed for groups of travellers who know what they like. Whether you’re travelling with friends, family, colleagues or like-minded enthusiasts, our tailor-made itineraries ensure your time on the road is well-spent, doing the activities you love most.
Special interest tours
Travellers who enjoy special interest tours are often life-long learners. They’re people with a natural curiosity about the world, a thirst for knowledge on a particular subject, or a drive to further one of their favourite skills.
Perhaps you have a passion for wildlife photography? An interest in contemporary art, or Japanese cuisine? Maybe you love to trek, or would love to try?
Our special interest tours create a travel experience that reflects your group’s preferred pursuits and unique needs. Along the way, we connect you with skilled local guides and guest speakers who’ll enhance your group’s knowledge.
Special interest tour themes
Some of our special interest tour themes include:
- Gourmet cuisine and cooking
- Contemporary art and culture
- Tai Chi and other martial arts
- Embroidery and textiles
- History and military
- Technology, IT and robotics
- Bushwalking and trekking
- Environment and conservation projects
- Remote mountain motorbiking and cycling
- Photography (nature, wildlife or architecture)
- Hands-on community service projects
How do special interest tours work?
Our special interest tours require a minimum group size of eight (8) paying travellers. We work in consultation with your group or organisation to design your ultimate travel experience – one that blends your group’s interests, preferences, fitness level and budget with our expert in-country knowledge. After all, we’ve been designing and running educational and special interest tours for over 20 years!
If choosing just one theme for your tour is too difficult, why not mix and match? We can build multiple themes into your customised program, or embed one theme within an itinerary of other cultural highlights and local activities.
Family-friendly tours and minibreaks
As travellers and parents ourselves, we know firsthand how important it is to entertain your kids and manage their wellbeing while travelling. Our family-friendly tours will engage and excite your family, while taking care of everyone’s health and safety. Which means you’ll enjoy a holiday that’s memorable for all the right reasons!
From short breaks to extended getaways, our itineraries blend adventure, cultural experiences and hands-on activities.
Family-friendly activities
Choose from a range of family-friendly activities like:
- Exploring temple ruins
- Zip-lining, kayaking and white-water rafting
- Hill tribe experiences
- Interactive museums
- Handicraft workshops
- River cruises
- Street food and market tours
- Martial arts classes
- Wildlife encounters
- Cultural performances
How do family-friendly tours work?
Our family-friendly tours require a minimum group size of six (6) paying travellers. We work in consultation with you to design an unforgettable travel experience – one that considers your family’s ages and stages, fitness levels, preferences and budget. After all, we’ve been designing and running family tours and excursions for over 20 years!
Throughout your tour, you’ll use fun modes of transport you wouldn’t normally use at home. Think tuk-tuks, electric buggies and historic or fast trains.
And at the end of each day, you’ll return to centrally located accommodation with a pool. Naturally, we build in time to relax and unwind: our motto is ‘adventure by day, comfort by night.’
Testimonial
“Shortly before the onset of COVID-19, my family and three other families friends embarked on a private group tour of Laos and Thailand. Wow, what an adventure we had. Highlights of the trip included heading to a remote ethnic village in the Thai mountains to see old traditions and the lifestyle of the Palong people. We thoroughly enjoyed a 2-day boat cruise along the Mekong Delta heading towards the Golden Triangle. Billy and his team organised motorbike rides as pillion passengers around the outskirts of Luang Prabang, cooking classes and an amazing race where the 4 families competed against each other – all for the prize of…. bragging rights and a t-shirt each for the winning team members!”
"With such a wide age range in our group (6-75 years old), the tour catered to all of our needs without any safety worries at all. They obviously knew how to plan a trip that had something for everyone. Our kids were always entertained, and we very much appreciated how the program was planned to avoid the heat of the day and the main tourist spots."
“Our guides, Joy and Chai, were great and looked after us while allow for free time and our hundred special requests. Roll on New Zealand or China when the same 4 families intend to take on our next adventure in 2023.“
